Will I get to edit my note before it is sent?

Yes. Users may edit the subject of the email as well as the content. You may choose to edit the content to include your own take on the message, change it slightly, or delete and create your own message in entirety. If you choose to leave the message as is, you may want to use the "Personal Message" feature, which allows you to enter a message that appears after each and every note you send.
